I’ll be honest and say I haven’t a clue if this one is off limits, I’ve been to the top, as the photos below show, there is a perfectly good logging path through the forest to near this summit, the gate near to Ausewell Cross sometimes has a no entry sign, sometimes not. However the path through the forest gives warning to tree felling, as it does in places such as Plymbridge woods which is open access. I’m none the wiser, I went one Sunday evening when no cars were around and it was about an hour to darkness. The wall near Ausewell Cross is fallen down in places and the gate has easy access to one side of it, follow the lane straight to Ausewell Rocks, then clamber over the clitter up the steep slope to the top. The eastern face is the easiest way up. The views from the top are just high enough to be over the trees, with Buckland Beacon in view, Teignmouth to the west and plenty of tors around Ryders Hill. There are no military ranges near this area.
