Bellever Clapper Bridge

This clapper bridge probably gets overlooked a little as it sits so near to Postbridge and its famous bridge. This one isn’t complete like the Postbridge one however for me it is set in a nicer, quieter spot. Like the one up the road there is a road bridge next to this one and it also spans the East Dart river. It is believed that the clapper bridge probably would only have taken foot traffic previously as anything larger would struggle to get across. The missing stones are believed to have been pushed into the river by vandals and then possibly used to construct part of the road bridge in the 1800s, either way it is still a lovely spot.
