Sat at the top of the tor and hill is the church of St Michael de Rupe (St Michael of the Rock). The tor in question is Brent Tor, situated on the far western edge of Dartmoor. The church is believed to have been built in 1694 and is built on the site of an old beacon (possible to warn of invaders, Spanish Armada possibly) and also above an old hill fort. Due to the tor being set away from the main Dartmoor bulk, this tor stands out with its church on top and due to this you can get some fine sunsets both from this church and also with it surrounded by a orange ball as the sun sets next to it.
