This cross sits in the churchyard of Manaton Church. As you walk the path from the main gate by the green, passing by the south church entrance, it is ahead of you. The cross looks to have been damaged with hardly any arms left on it. It is believed that a cross stood here in the mid 19th century when a new vicar arrived at the church. Prior to this there was a custom that all those being buried here were carried 3 times around the cross. The vicar deemed this to be superstitious and removed the cross, after he left a cross was found and erected here in 1908 which is the current one in situ.
