A wellknown boggy area of ground which sits alongside the East Dart River just to the north of Sandy Hole Pass. This area is always boggy and normally far too wet to consider walking through. I’ve tried after plenty of dry weather in the summer and the floor moved, I sank and then retreated. Skirt around every time!! The likelihood is that this area was caused by the tin workings which are all around this area, certainly Sandy Hole Pass is because of the tin and therefore the narrowing of the river at Sandy Hole may have caused this marsh to form.
