Church Rock

This is a decent sized rock just a short distance north of Over Tor. There’s not much difference between the two outcrops really, both have a fair bit of clitter around, the views are the same and getting here is just as easy. Why is it separate you may ask? Well because that’s the way it is on Dartmoor. There doesn’t seem to be a right or wrong list of outcrops, and this one is included in my list. There were stories to say this particular rock linked to the pixies and if you listened closely you could hear the sound of church bells in the rock. The views are good to the south and Great Mis Tor dominates the vista north. Its a very simple outcrop to bag alongside Over Tor, then move onwards to Great Mis Tor, where the Merrivale range lies so be wary of red flags flying if heading that way.
