There’s not much really to say about Merripit Hill, it lies in northern Dartmoor between Postbridge and the Warren House Inn. There aren’t many paths up to the top, just a couple running south to north from the B3212 road below. The views are pretty decent, especially to the south to Hameldown, Yar Tor and Ryders Hill. The remains of a Second World War observation post also sits at the summit. It’s a pretty good lookout point, however I wouldn’t fancy being that poor person on a winter’s day….bleak indeed!! There are no military firing areas near here.
