Merripit Hill

There’s not much really to say about Merripit Hill, it lies in northern Dartmoor between Postbridge and the Warren House Inn. There aren’t many paths up to the top, just a couple running south to north from the B3212 road below. The views are pretty decent, especially to the south to Hameldown, Yar Tor and Ryders Hill. The remains of a Second World War observation post also sits at the summit. It’s a pretty good lookout point, however I wouldn’t fancy being that poor person on a winter’s day….bleak indeed!! There are no military firing areas near here.
