This tor sits in the woods, on the southern bank of the River Teign. The woods here are steep and the climb up can be tricky, there will be bracken here in the summer around the main outcrops. The smaller outcrops are in the trees but the main rocks are out of the woods themselves. Head across the Iron Bridge and turn right after crossing, follow the lane for 50 metres and a grassy opening will appear on the left, head up into the woods here looking for a path and large boulders should be seen prior to heading up into the trees. The outcrop is on your left as you climb and heads fruther back away from the path, you will get glimpses across to Hunters Tor and Castle Drogo as you climb and also Cosdon Beacon. Especially in the winter months when the greenery is not on the trees. There are no military ranges near here.

These rocks are right by the path at the bottom, Whiddon Wood Tor could start here and run for 100 metres up the hill. The wooden gate where you would start to climb to Whiddon Wood Tor is just ahead. Or preferably turn around and head back to the bridge and carry on along the lane for 40 – 50 metres until a grassy area appears on the left

The path heading up the hill, the outcrop is to my right here
