Cowsic bridge is little more than a sturdy wooden structure over the River Cowsic which allows passage from the end of the Holming Beam track across to the lower slopes of Beardown Tor. Don’t be fooled however particularly when on the Beardown Tor side, for even after a period of dry weather the last 10 metres or so before reaching the bridge can be boggy. If you are in the middle of winter, after many downpours, then expect a fair bit of leaping over peaty ground and the likelihood of wet feet!! There is a larger much sturdier granite bridge further downstream also called Cowsic Bridge
