The name seems a bit of a misnomer as looking at this bridge it seems to be more of a middle aged bridge or older bridge! But then again was it built by the army to carry the track over the brook so whilst it looks older it probably isn’t. This one spans the Black a ven Brook just to the north west of East Mill Tor as part of the army tracks around the Okehampton firing range. Its a fairly simple bridge with the supporting stones on the southern side set at 45 degrees to the water in order to help the flow of the brook as it passes under the bridge.
