The Coffin Stone

This stone was used by pall bearers to rest the coffin half way up the hill from Dartmeet. It sits not far from the B3357 road which runs from Dartmeet to Poundsgate. The stone is marked on the OS maps but on the ground it can be tricky to find, as the stone is low and not that big, in summer there will be bracken around as well. You will know when you find it however as it has a distinctive split running between the two halves, a result of weathering most likely.
