Whoever the Henry is that relates to this ford I’m not sure. I guess it could be the car maker, however more likely is a man called Henry Honey who once owned the licence to mine at nearby Taw Marsh or one of the agents at Knack Mine called Captain Henry Banter. Either way its a decent way to get across the East Okement at this point, although in full spate it would be safer to cross at Cullever steps. Even in summer you may have to wade across, although you can hop across the stones in the narrower streams, as the river briefly splits at this point. The ford is situated below Knattaborough Tor and not too far from Oke Tor.
