Funny name for a fabulous tor. Great Kneeset sits bang in the middle of the Okehampton firing range and despite its proximity to Cranmere Pool, Black Hill and a handful of river starting points this tor is ok to get to. I followed the army roads out to Dinger Tor then followed the track down, crossed the West Okement and headed up the hill. The last part involved some long grass but considering where it is it’s not too bad. Other routes here from the south and east will more than likely involved a boggy trudge. Once at the top the views are brilliant. To the north you get a great view down the West Okement valley with High Willhays and Yes Tor to the right. To the south lies Cut Hill and Fur Tor with Hare Tor and even Kit Hill in Cornwall visible to the south west. Its a magical spot.
