If you’re after peace and quiet then this isn’t the tor for you, like nearby Haytor this is a very popular tor indeed. The car park, about 150 metres from the tor helps with its popularity along with the burger van and/or ice cream van that is usually in attendance. The tor itself is substantial, with quite a number of vast granite stacks and lumps, making a great place for scrambling and climbing. The downside of being so busy is the rubbish which seems to collect, around and under the tor rocks, which spoils a lovely tor. The views though are pretty good, especially over to Haytor, past Greator Rocks. There are no military firing areas near this tor.
