Manaton Rocks

Looking around from nearby Hayne Down or Easdon Tor it is tricky to pick out Manaton Rocks, they don’t stand too proud above the village and covered in trees they are almost camouflaged. However walk them from Manaton village, through the churchyard and along the path, you climb steeply, once you reach the top you know you’ve climbed somewhere!! You pop out from the trees and hop up the exposed rocks and stand like a meerkat lookout across eastern Devon!! The views are good, especially south to Haytor and its surrounding tors and across to Hameldown. Being this far east their are no military areas anywhere near here.

If you are approaching Manaton Rocks from the Easdon Tor side then you need to find this stile. Its on the well marked county road path, and just beyond this stile is a signpost showing you the way. This is at SX750816
