Swell Tor is a quietly unassuming tor that hides a famous past, for it was from here that the granite was taken to make London Bridge. There are remnants all around of the quarry workings, including railways tracks and sidings, quarry buildings, the quarry hole itself as well as dressed corbels that were not taken to London. The tor itself sits above the quarry and has great views in all directions. There are no military ranges near here.
