Wigford Down sits in the south western corner of Dartmoor just to the north of Shaugh Prior. Its a fairly easy place to get to the top of with a large cairn marking the summit. The easiest place to start out from is the many car parking areas around Cadover Bridge, making it a simple 15 minute walk up the hill. The views from the top are in every direction, Plymouth Sound can be seen across Devil’s Rocks, Cox Tor and round to Sheeps Tor can be seen to the north. With Lee Moor, Shell Top and the Trowlesworthy Tors to the east alongside the clay works. There are no military firing areas around this part of Dartmoor.
