Yar Tor sits pretty close to the B3357 road into Dartmeet and offers superb views across central Dartmoor and round to the north. The summit shelter has been brilliantly made as a spiral to keep out the worst of the winds. There is a decent car park at the foot of the tor making an ascent a simple 15 minute walk, you can also link in Corndon Tor and Sharp Tor to make a nice hour or so out in a fine part of Dartmoor. There are no military firing ranges in this area.
