Manaton Clapper Bridge

This one is a bit of a misnomer, it says clapper bridge on the OS maps, but there isn’t a sign of one at the site. Maybe it used to be a clapper bridge and was replaced? Maybe. However this isn’t just one bridge but two, the main one is over the River Bovey and the second over a small stream which is working its way into the river. There also isn’t much distance between them, about 20 metres and the road that crosses them runs from Langstone to Barnecourt.

And again the other side

This is the smaller bridge to the north east of the Bovey bridge, a fine structure

It spans a small stream as it heads into the River Bovey
