Gidleigh Church

The church of The Holy Trinity is a Grade 1 built structure, sitting in the small village of Gidleigh, near to Chagford. There was certainly a Norman chapel here in the 1200’s and possibly a Saxon one prior to that. These were rebuilt in the 15th century to something like what we see today, with the odd addition since. The granite building sits in its lush green setting with a stream running through the grounds, but inside is a plain interior with one exception. The roodscreen is a colourful gem, 16th century in origin and repainted in the 19th century.
