Most people driving from the A38 up towards Holne and on to Venford Reservoir will pass by this cross and its accompanying oak tree (the Stumpy Oak). The cross sits as a waymarker on the Dartmoor path between Tavistock and Buckfast, although it was replaced here after spending many years in the nearby Hawson’s Farm. A new oak has been planted here in case the old Stumpy eventually needs to be felled, however the cross will be here in its original location for years to come.
