Ash Tor

This is another woodland tor, to the north west of Moretonhampstead on a path that links Bowden farm and Linscott. If you are coming from the north you will find a gate in the corner of the field which looks overgrown, in summer bash through and you will see the top of this tor on your right. More easily however, come up the hill from the south, and Linscott Tor. You will see the tor on the western side of the path, near the top of the woods. The outcrop isn’t huge but it is a decent size and has plenty of mossy boulders all around. Even in winter the views are difficult to see, although you may be able to pick out the odd tor around the Cosdon Hill, Watern Tor area. No military firing ranges here.

Mossy boulders not far from the path, head in a bit to see the proper tor outcrop
Here it is, a decent size
Not much of a view in winter, but you might just be able to make out a few tors around Cosdon Hill or Wild Tor. If you come in summer you’ll see even less
