This is a cross set into the hedge and wall at the eastern end of the village of Shaugh Prior, just past the church itself. The cross sits on a large stone plinth which protrudes from the wall, the cross shows a small amount of damage at the top right hand corner (repaired in 1870 ish) but otherwise it is in a good state. It is believed that this is cross was used as a preaching cross, rather than the more common waymarkers between abbeys around Dartmoor. In the village centre by the hall is a fake cross, made of concrete with the name of the village painted on the cross, not for me.
