Sourton Green Cross

This cross was found recently, in the 1980’s in a farm building, holding up the roof. The cross was in two pieces, but when looked at closely they realised it was a 10th century cross. Volunteers, along with the Dartmoor National Park repaired the cross and erected it on Sourton Green. A plaque on the rock next to it tells of the story.

This is Sourton Green Cross with the Highwayman Pub, Britain’s most unusual pub!! behind. The plaque can be seen on the rock to the left and crosses and symbols have been carved into the cross itself
