Whealham Bottom Cross

There is a bit of confusion around this cross or boundary post as it may well be. Its current location isn’t on any of normal Abbot’s way tracks and in its current state, with no arms (cross), any broken off pieces could not be found nearby. It is possible that it was a cross somewhere else, and it has been brought here as a boundary marker post, possibly by tinners. The cross sits on the edge of Foxtor Mire on the path heading out from Nun’s Cross towards Fox Tor and Crane Hill. There is a cross inscribed on the northern side of the post, making it a cross now as it says on the OS maps.
