This is the clearly marked car park on the map just to the north of the Meldon Reservoir Dam alongside one other spot just over a bridge over the A30. There is a toilet in the car park,at the reservoir, however unfortunately the national park authorities are thinking of bringing pay and display car parking to Dartmoor, with this being one of the spots, so watch out for that. That means the other parking spot on this map may become popular as it isn’t too far from the other one, in fact it allows you to pas under, around or over the Meldon viaduct to get back to the main reservoir car park, so that’s a good thing. From here the obvious spots to walk are around the reservoir, to the viaduct or up to the highest spots on Dartmoor in Yes Tor and High Willhays. There is also the West Okement valley which is well worth a visit, with Black Tor and its woodland copse the start of the show.
