You’d have thought that having walked around Land’s End on a 3 day expedition that we’d be sick of having the sea on our left hand side. Not a bit of it, this was a revisit to Start Point for myself and a first proper look for Linda, in an area that never fails to deliver some stunning coastal scenery. The sun was shining, not quite as hot as it was in June but still very warm, with butterflies out in abundance around Start Point. It was a glorious walk in perfect weather and perfect company. As we rounded Start Point and headed to Peartree Point we spotted some dark shapes in the sea, first one, then two seals. In total 4 were in the area, and we spend at least 20 minutes watching them fishing in and out of the coves and pools. We eventually took ourselves away towards Lannacombe Beach and back via the lanes to Beesands, a superb walk and such a lovely area to walk in.

Glorious! Love the butterflies, obviously, the seals too, but most of all the fantastic coastal scenery and the lovely colour of the sea. I’ve never walked a long distance coastal path, and I would love to, but, if the weather was half-way decent, I think I would struggle to resist the temptation to stop frequently for swims.
It is a stunning bit of coast.

The drops down to the beach after a hard climb do make it difficult not to jump in each time
