Buttern Hill

Buttern Hill with its location is a rather overlooked hill. It sits next to the much bigger Kennon Hill and just south from Cosdon Beacon. With the ever popular Scorhill Stone Circle just to the south, Buttern Hill can be neglected when it comes to walking destinations. This is a shame as the views eastwards from the summit are very good, Haytor can also be seen in the far distance past Hameldown. In fact the views are almost 360, with the only exception being to the north east with Kennon Hill being in the way! Buttern Hill also has its own stone circle, however this is unlikely to ever take visitors away from Scorhill as most of the stones are lying flat now. This tor does not sit within any of the military firing areas.
