Sheeps Tor dominates the Burrator Reservoir skyline however in reality it is smaller than nearby Sharpitor and only a few metres higher than Down Tor at the end of Burrator. Legend has it that Lord Elford hid from capture during the Civic War in a cave on the southern side of Sheeps Tor. There are some excellent views to be had from the top, although I prefer the view of Burrator from the other side, on Leather Tor, personally. Plenty of parking is available around Burrator Reservoir in order to start a climb up this one. There is no army firing ranges anywhere near this tor.
