Great Gnats Head

Great Gnats Head is not a tor as such but a large cairn and hill with plenty of scattered granite down the slope from the pile. It has good views on a clear day to Higher Hartor  Tor and beyond to Plymouth Sound. Great Gnats Head sits just up the hill from Plym Ford and the source of the river Plym, which gives Plymouth its name. In my experience coming from Plym Ford and Great Gnats Head is one of the better and drier routes to Ducks Pool. No military firing areas around Great Gnats Head.
