Hole Rock

I’ll be honest here, Hole Rock is tough to find. I’ve looked at a few websites and photos and each one seems to have a different tor/rock as Hole Rock. However I think I’ve worked it out after a couple of visits!! Hole Rock (the black arrow below) and Leighon Tor (the red arrow) these sit about 50 metres apart and Smallacombe Rocks isn’t more than a decent 3 wood away, so to be honest its all a bit confusing! Hole Rock sits on the side of Black Hill overlooking Hound Tor and Greator Rocks, with Leighon Tor about 50 metres north and a much larger outcrop. The views this way are pretty good, especially in spring when the bluebells are out on the hill opposite. The easiest way to this spot is probably starting out from Haytor and heading for Smallacombe Rocks first, although it is possible to get here from Hound Tor following the good path through the valley and the woods. There are no military firing areas near here.
