Leather Tor is one of the most dramatic tors on Dartmoor, particularly when you consider its modest height. The steep drops from the granite stacks are up to 100 foot down and the vertigo doesn’t stop there as the hill itself drops down steeply towards Burrator some 140 metres below. The views in the direction of Burrator are naturally superb, however they are just as good towards North Hessary Tor and Princetown. Leather Tor, when teamed with Sharpitor and Peek Hill, make an excellent short circular walk perfect for a summers evening. There are no military firing ranges near this tor.
