Shilstone Tor

Shilstone Tor is a small tor on the eastern side of Dartmoor proper, near to the village of Throwleigh. An ascent is as easy as it gets as there is a car park no more than 50 metres from the tor. However, even if it is small the views to the east are exceptional as the green fields of East Devon are spread out before you. There is also a good view to Kes Tor to the south and to Buttern Hill to the south west. Good paths lead off towards Cosdon Hill making it a good first tor on the way to higher places. There are no military firing areas near this tor.
