Fur Tor has to be one of the best tors on Dartmoor, it’s certainly in my top 3. It is a distance from the crowds, you have to make an effort to get there with all the boggy ground you need to traverse and it can be approached via the exceptional Tavy Cleave (parking at Lane End). The views to the north and western side are fantastic, with High Willhays in view all the way round to Great Mis Tor and Cornwall beyond. There is a decent granite stack at the summit which takes some climbing, which you should have to yourself with any luck! Fur Tor lies within the Okehampton firing range so take notice of any warnings signs before setting out.
