This is a solid brick built bridge which used to take the old Plymouth to Tavistock railway across this pretty part of the countryside high above the Bedford Bridge and the River Walkham. Now it carries the Dartmoor Way and various named cycle paths. This brick structure was built in 1902 and down below you will see other pillars which supported the older wooden 1859 version. This line was built by Brunel and carried on towards Tavistock, over Gem Bridge, and then through the tunnel before it reached the town.
