Castle Drogo

This is the last castle to be built in England, erected between 1911 and 1930. It is a country residence and castle and is now owned by the National Trust. The castle, being as it does, sitting on the edge of Dartmoor near to Drewsteignton, is subjected to some fierce weather and recently has been undergoing some serious work to its roof. This work was finished in 2021 and the castle is fully open and uncovered again to the public. There is a fantastic walk from the castle along the Hunters Path (past Sharp Tor) to Fingle Bridge, returning along a path on the southern side of the Teign river, across the Iron bridge and up to the castle again.
