The Cave Penney Memorial or Sherwell Cross stands on a granite rock between Yar Tor and Corndon Tor. It is a memorial to a young World War 1 soldier who lived in the local area. He died in battle in Palestine in 1918 and is commemorated by this impressive well-preserved cross. It sits in stunning surroundings with great views to the south to Sharp Tor, across to Yar Tor and north towards Postbridge.
