The Avon Water Treatment Works or WTW as it is on the signs as you head up from Shipley Bridge towards Avon Dam. The WTW isn’t near to the Dam, instead it sits around a mile from the Dam to the west of Shipley Bridge. This plant helps to provide the water for the South Hams area and some of Plymouth. This plant and new pipeline was completed in 2009 to help provide on going water needs to these areas, particularly with the new Sherford development to the east of Plymouth.
