Not so much a pond or a pool, really more of a boggy depression with boggy ground all around except in the driest of summers. If you want to get away from the world however these are the places you come, peace and quiet abound here in good weather with only a skylark or two for company. In 1938 a letterbox was placed here in memorial to the Dartmoor writer William Crossing, the plaque is still here along with the letterbox, which is the second oldest on Dartmoor, it is still in use today. A fantastic place.
