Walkhampton Church Cross

This is a severely damaged cross with only the shaft and socket parts remaining from the original, the shaft was found on a nearby lane and was probably used as a gatepost at some point during its life. It sits just outside Walkhampton Church House beside the church. A new cross was made for the top and it was resurrected somewhere around 1900 at a similar time to Goldsmith Cross near Foxtor Mire. This cross would have been on the original route from Tavistock Abbey to Buckland or Buckfast so is likely a waymarker for that route.
