Like a fair few of the hills on Dartmoor, nearby Maiden Hill, Skir Hill and Ter Hill come to mind, this place is a bit dull and unlikely to win “best tor on Dartmoor” prizes. There are decent views back to Princetown and the prison and also north towards Great Links Tor but the walk here is fairly uneventful. In the summer the grass will be long and tough to walk over and in the winter the ground surrounding this hill will be boggy. The easiest place to park and get to this hill will be Holming Beam, following the path across the walled field to get near to the bottom of the short climb. This hill sits inside the Merrivale firing range so check firing times before entering and obey the red flags if they are flying.
