Chat Tor is another fairly isolated tor, it doesn’t have the largest of granite piles either, meaning it can be quite easily missed, especially if your eyes are drawn to nearby Hare Tor or Sharp Tor. Lying at the top of Rattlebrook Hill, Chat Tor isn’t a particularly dramatic tor summit, due to flat ground around the rocks, however the long distance views into the centre of the moor are very good and the outcrop itself resembles a cow pat which always brings a smile. Chat Tor lies in the Willsworthy firing range and on the edge of the Okehampton range as well, making this a busy spot for the military so beware of red flags flying. The easiest way to this tor is parking on the moorland car park behind the Dartmoor Inn near Lydford, crossing the River Lyd and following the path between Brat Tor and Arms Tor, head south once you are level with Great Links Tor.
