From the path through the woods, this tor may seem like a bit of a disappointment. However pass by the summit stone (the Harton Chest), heading towards Lustleigh Cleave, between the trees and rocks and you pop out onto a huge domed boulder perched high above the canopy. It’s a fantastic spot, be wary the drops are vast, but those with a head for heights will love this place. The views towards Hound Tor and Smallacombe Rocks are superb but its the view along the cleave below which grabs the eye. One of my favourite places on the moor for sure. It’s easy to get here by following the path along the ridge from Sharpitor at one end to Hunters Tor at the other. There are no military areas near here.
