Stalldown Barrow is probably more famous for its stone row and possibly for Hillson’s House than it is for being a hill itself!! The Stalldown Barrow stone row is over half a km long and runs north up the hill with the stones getting larger the further up you go. Its one of the best stone rows on the entire moor. The summit of this hill is marked by Hillson’s House, and its fantastic story. The views are fairly extensive from here, with Plymouth Sound in view on a clear day. Penn Beacon to the west and the ridge up past Butterdon Hill to Three Barrows to the east. The easiest route here is probably from New Waste or from Harford village itself and walking up past Tristis Rock. There are no military areas near this hill.
