Stone Tor or Stonetor Hill is more of a hill than a tor. It sits behind and to the north of Fernworthy Forest, between Shovel Down and Manga Hill. There isn’t really a summit on this hill, just a long wall running north to south along which the tor sits as part of the wall. The actual tor rocks sit around the wall to the north west of the highest point, in the direction of Manga Rails. There are a fair few grassy paths leading to this tor, particularly from the Kes Tor direction and it is fairly easy to link this summit into a walk that takes in Kes Tor and Scorhill. The view across Gallaven Mire to Kennon Hill, Buttern Hill and Watern Tor are pretty good, showing the vast low lying dip in the landscape. There are no military firing areas around this tor.
