Swell Tor is a quietly unassuming tor that hides a famous past, for it was from here that the granite was taken to make London Bridge. There are remnants all around of the quarry workings, including railways tracks and sidings, quarry buildings, the quarry hole itself as well as dressed corbels that were not taken to London. The tor that is left sits above the quarry and has great views in all directions and sits near to Kings Tor and not far from Princetown and can easily be reached along the old railway track path. There are no military ranges near here.
