Grenofen Tunnel

This tunnel helped carry the trains running from Plymouth to Tavistock from 1859 until they stopped in 1962. The tunnel was built by Brunel, carving a hole through the hillside under the village of Grenofen. The tunnel runs for 340 metres and is now lit along its length to help navigation a little, there is still a considerable amount of water coming into the tunnel and regular puddles on the paths.
