Meldon Dam was completed in 1972 and is the youngest of the dams on Dartmoor. Meldon Reservoir is a popular starting spot for an ascent of Yes Tor and High Willhays or a lower walk to Black-a-Tor copse. The Meldon Reservoir sits on the West Okement River and from the dam it offers good views to the Meldon viaduct.
