West Dart Weir

West Dart Weir marks the start of the Devonport Leat which runs all the way to Devonport (Plymouth). The weir was built in 1794 to take water from the West Dart River and send it to Devonport for drinking. The weir was one of the earlier parts of the leat to be built, which was completed in 1802. The weir sits in the valley of the West Dart beneath Beardown Tor and Longaford Tor.
