Higher Knowle Wood Tor

Now this isn’t just one tor, but there are two here on this page. A north one and a south one. The south one, sitting right by the main footpath which links the hamlet of Knowle to Slade Cross. As you walk, coming from the Slade Cross end, on your left you will see a set back area with a large upstanding rock. This is Higher Knowle Wood Tor South. If you head into the woods at the junction between the Slade Cross road and Higher Knowle Wood (there’s a large sign to welcome you) and head in either 10 or 100 metres on your left you will see a track. This narrow, and sometimes faint, track loops around in a semi circle. It therefore doesn’t matter which one you take as it will lead you to the tor half way around (the second track is easier to follow). This is Higher Knowle Wood Tor North. The views from the south one are better, as you can look through the hedge, across fields, towards Bovey Tracey. There are no firing ranges near this place.
